Tamannary Forest Kitchen Renovation - Tour of Remodeled Homes
The charm, character and overall potential of this 1988 “Victorian Cape Cod” home convinced the new owners to take on the challenge of renovation. Their first order of business was to tackle the outdated kitchen, improving its function and reflecting the owners’ more contemporary tastes. It was out with the “Oak” and in with the new. Southern Evergreen’s overall objective was to improve on the function of the existing kitchen and consolidate common culinary tasks into efficient work stations.
Challenges: Southern Evergreen’s Principal Interior Designer, Nora Miller, and Principal Architect, Steve Johnson, along with Hearthstone Cabinetry took on the task of rebuilding the kitchen while being mindful of the existing flow and architecture of the home. No walls were moved or removed, and yet a more spacious feel was accomplished with more available storage than the “before” kitchen. The existing 8’ ceilings gave Nora a special opportunity to create a spatial illusion of higher ceilings with the use of cabinetry, color, and lighting.
